ChatGPT can now search the web in real time... It is no longer limited to data before September 2021.
Yes you heard right, OpenAI offers the latest information, along with source links exclusively for subscribers, while non-subscribers will also gain access to this feature.
OpenAI announced today that ChatGPT can now search the internet for the latest information and provide answers from up-to-date and reliable sources, which it references in its responses. This feature, named "Browse with Bing," is currently available to Plus and Enterprise subscribers but will become accessible to all users in the near future.
Microsoft's Bing Chat, available on Windows, in the Edge browser, and through third-party browser plugins, has the ability to fetch real-time information from the internet. Similarly, Google's Bard, found in Chrome and other browsers, also provides live web information along with relevant links in search results. Just like them, ChatGPT's 'Browse with Bing' feature now offers links while searching. Furthermore, Meta recently announced at Meta Connect that they'll be using Bing to deliver up-to-the-minute web results through the Meta AI Assistant, which is soon to be integrated into WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger.
Getting ChatGPT to search the web can be a bit tricky, especially on the iOS app. While the company offers clear instructions for the browser version, I couldn't find the same guidance for the iOS app. However, I managed to figure it out, and I'm here to simplify it for you.
Assuming you have a subscription, here's how you can do it:
- Open the iOS app and tap on the three dots menu.
- Go to Settings.
- Look for the section called "New Features."
- In there, you'll find an option labeled "Browse with Bing."
- Now, start a new chat, tap on GPT-4, and select "Browse with Bing."
- Go to your 'Profile & Settings' section.
- Look for the 'Beta features' option.
- Turn on 'Browse with Bing.'
- Under the GPT-4 selector, pick 'Browse with Bing.'"
